The ENAs Judging Values Statement
The ENAs is committed to ensuring that the judging panel align with an ethical quality assurance approach which includes:
Ethics and accountability: By acting in line with the ENAs’ judging guidelines, our judges act to maintain the integrity of judging and to ensure a judging process that is ethical, open, impartial, fair, transparent and accountable. The panel reviews all entries as impartial individuals and are asked to declare if there is a conflict of interest to maintain the credibility and fairness of the programme. Judges are assigned to certain panels according to their expertise and skills best suited to those categories.
Evidence: The awards are judged purely on the evidence submitted within the submissions/entry forms to provide the panel with a fair and comparative scoring environment without predetermination. Judges have the discretion to seek further clarification from an entrant if they so wish.
Criteria: Criteria is provided as the basis for judging. The criteria used are based on the key characteristics that distinguish outstanding performance in each award category.
Scoring: Assessments are made against the criteria provided for each award category, using the online scoring system. The scoring system is an aid for judges and forms the basis for determining the rankings and discussion for each award. Initial pre-scoring carried out online remains confidential to avoid any influences on the scoring of other panel members. Comments and feedback are discussed face to face in a final judging session to determine winners from those initial rankings.
